Postage Stamp Release of Sri Siddhar Swamigal

Sadguru Om Sri Siddhar Swamigal Commemorative postage stamp is being released in New Delhi on 15th May 2004 to mark the Birth Centenary of Siddhar Swamigal. This is a significant recognition and a high degree of respect for spiritualism and the spiritual leader from South India.

Siddhar Swamigal
Sadguru Om Sri Siddhar Swamigal (1904-1964) was a great spiritual leader who strove tirelessly for universal peace. Siddhar Swamigal taught the importance of physical, mental and spiritual discipline to create the perfect being in a perfect society in a perfect world. Sadguru Gnana Siddhar temple has been consecrated in Pudupattinam near Kalpakkam in Tamilnadu where Om Sri Siddhar Swamigal is the presiding deity.

Ongara Ashram
Swamiji Omkaranandha, direct disciple of Maha Siddhar Swamigal, has established the ashram in Pondicherry, Chennai and in several cities in Tamilnadu. Ashram is also functioning in California USA, Singapore and in Europe. To mark the birth centenary of Maha Siddhar Swamigal, the disciples of Ashram had placed their request to the Central postal department to release a postage stamp.

Stamp release in New Delhi
Central Postal department has graciously accepted the request and decided to release the postal stamp on 15th May 2004, 10:30 AM at Delhi Tamil Sangam. The function is presided over by:

Member (Operations), Postal Services Board, Department of Posts

Judge, Supreme Court of India

Member, Union Planning Commission

The cost of the postal stamp is Rs.5. The first day cover without stamp is Rs.2. The first day cover with Stamp is Rs.7. Album is priced at Rs.175. On this auspicious occasion, two books 'ULAGA MAHA SIDDHAR VARUGAI' and 'JNANOPADESAM' authored by Swamiji Omkaranandha are also released. These books depict the history and teachings of Maha Siddhar Swamigal.
